this is _why_ CentOS and RHEL exist. Upstream code upgrades don't always
mix well with existing users' running applications.
And this is why there's some REALLY old crap out there running redhat9 (or
5.2!) 'cause the application has never been updated. ever. before Linux
security testing really began in earnest.
