Spacing of rafters and battens has a lot to do with it as well. Attic of our 
house with 16" spacing and no insulation is just as quite my workshop with 
24" spacing *and* 1" thick styrofoam insulation. Both are residential grade 
painted metal, battens are 2X4s.

Go for it, you will be glad you did! More fire restant as well...
