Hi all,

I just found a great new use for your pc.  (not)  Run it at close to it's max power limit.  Then, if the power glitches, even for a second, you have an instant power fail indicator.  This is much more effective than using something like an old led clock.  8-(

I woke up today to find one of my desktops locked up and one shut down.  My wonderful high tech dehumidifier with digital controls was also off.  I have an old led clock which I use to monitor for power failures.  It was happy as a clam.

I know, I know, UPS.  Well 500W + UPS's ain't cheap.  But it's on my list to get a couple.

Even though it won't solve my equipment problems, does anyone know how to build or buy a power fail indicator that will show a warning in the event of a VERY brief power failure, on the order of .25 sec - 1 sec.  I don't know how long the glitch was last night.  But, if it were more than a few seconds, the led clock should have been blinking, and it wasn't.  Price would have to be under $ 50 and preferably under $ 25.  After all, my 3 failed pieces of equipment also told me there was a glitch.
