[ale] dealing with documents created on a Mac.

Just setup a document on Google Drive and share it.  Then you can both
edit without dealing with this kind of nonsense.  The only conversion
you'll need is to copy/paste into the google doc.

Given the situation, I'm sure the last thing she wants to do is mess
around with program settings.
