You should also look into a browser add-on called Ghostery, it blocks
a lot of things that aren't js or flash. In particular, it blocks "web
bug" images.

Consider a page called http://carsite.com/2012/ford/explorer/details
which contains an <img src="http://web.bug.com/1x1pixel.png" />

When you visit that page, the owner of bug.com gets an entry in their
http logs that includes the date and time and your IP address and
carsite.com/2012/ford/explorer/details in the referer field.

Now, bug.com can cross reference this with every OTHER request they
get from your browser, and they can sell that data to someone like
facebook who knows which IPs your account is logged in from at what
times, and they can target new ads at you based on that.
