This is what I do as well. I do a rsync off the box, do a fresh
install, make the partions the way I want (normally, mdadm for boot,
mdadm for the system, make an array on the system raid 10, on the raid
10, encyrpt it, in the encryption, build LVM. complicated, in ubunut
IIRC, you need the server install CD). when I am done, i have a raid 1
for boot, raid 10 for the system, the system is encrypted, the lvm has
two LVs, root and swap.
I don't do a separate home as the rsync serves that purpose. The hole
in my plan is the rsync is not encrypted, but no one know that. Wait,
never mind. I don't do that at all...
Now I am wondering why I never encrypted the USB drive.
Since my wife has her own now (she does windows), no reason not to.
Hmmmm, need to think of a good way to do that. Then all I need to worry
about is how the NSA has put a back door into the BIOS.
