That doesn't even sound possible to be quite frank.  So the 4 pin molex 
connector burned in place?  Definitely not common! Didn't think there 
was enough current to do that without tripping the PS.  What kind of PS 
is it?  If it's a cheapy, say one that came with the case, I would 
looking into getting something better with over current and crowbar 
protection.  Does everything else seem to work otherwise?
