Try PCLinuxOS LiveCD. The new one is based on KDE, which they
customized with 6 virtual desktops or activities, which my
understanding of activities is grouping related apps and assigning
them to a specific desktop. They have 6 desktops set up this way based
on functions, like the 1st DT is Internet and has all of your web
browsers, email clients, chat room apps etc. The Office DT has all of
your productivity office related packages, and so on.

I find current KDE (version 4.6+) to be better than Gnome3.0. It has
by default a few of the annoying features of Gnome3 such as the upper
left corner is an active point, but it is very easily disabled in the
desktop or workspace configuration utility.
