The elimination of passwords.  The proliferation of cryptographic 
identity modules (such as the USB-based Gemalto readers with GPG cards 
in them).

But then you have people who worry about this being used in negative 
manners by e.g., the government and cracker-types.  It's more secure, 
and yes, while it means that your private key would be tied to your 
identity, at least it's a lot harder to forge!  All you then have to do 
is keep a four to six digit PIN remembered, and if your identity is 
stolen after a configurable number of tries, perhaps 3, perhaps 10, the 
unit fries itself and all the data on it, assuming attempted compromise.

Keys are the only way to stay secure.
