No ROMs needed anymore. ICS load from Acer remains, just you can superuser into
root.  ICS does change some of the security features, so it isn't as wild-west
as it was before even with root.  The root process requires usb debugging and
use of ADB from a PC (Win or Linux).

The single most important reason to get root is for backups. Without root, you
can't backup the device, which makes you vulnerable to crackers.

OTOH, if you've never met an app that you didn't want to try, then I suspect,
eventually, you will be cracked. I'm pretty low key on loading apps.

TerminalIDE is my main app. It makes Android "feel" more like UNIX CLI.  Great
for ssh sessions into other systems.

NAVFree (or is it FreeNAV?) is the other app.
