[ale] weird printer problem

Interesting - are you sure the printer, desktop and laptop all have
separate IPs on the router?   (That is have your reverified the IP on
each before trying the print?)   Is the VPN being established by the
laptop or by the router itself?

no, I am not initiating the print job FROM the laptop. I am using my
HOME DESKTOP to print to the Samsung, but it knocks my LAPTOP off the
VPN connection.
