[ale] just a note about Atlantic Nexus

well, we got hit by a nice BIG storm last night. I was watching TV (
plugged into an UPS) and I heard a very LOUD BOOM!!!! I mean NEARBY &
BIG. when the picture finally garbled on my TV from DirecTV lack of
signal, I went to the PC to look up wsb weather. nada, no DSL. PC is
behind APC UPS, and dialtone goes through APC UPS. Later Milt from atnex
said NOT to put the dialtone through the APC it degrades the signal..
anyway, I figured it was the storm hit the main box & forgot about it.
about 7:45pm ( right at the END of a THRILLER movie right before the bad
guy gets it!!) Milt from Atlantic Nexus calls ME to ask about my DSL. He
was getting no signal.. We played with it for a few, then he had me plug
in my OLD modem & it synced up.. so my ADSL modem got fried. It is
plugged into an APC UPS & the dialtone went through it too. We got me up
& going with the old modem & he is shipping me a replacement ADSL modem
today. He even remembered that my Linksys router hung off the ADLS modem
for wireless was running DD-WRT !
THIS is why I got business-class service & got it from Atlantic Nexus (
he calls it net2atlanta.com, the business side).

I just wanted to pass along a feel-good story after a bad night..
and we got 0.86 inches of rain in about an hour..
