[ale] no user/password fields on gnome logins screen

Below is the Xorg.0.log from immediately after a boot. Note that it is
finding the /etc/X11/xorg.conf file I created with the dontZap flag set to
false. That was an attempt to enable the control+alt+backspace hotkey to
restart X. It doesn't work though.
