I just do it that way to suggest the proper pronunciation.  Steve
"megalomaniac" Jobs wants us to treat the "X" as a cutesy
little Roman numeral and call it "O-S-Ten".

I prefer to acknowledge that everything under the hood in a
Mac is now based on a free uniX, and that it is much more
appropriate to pronounce the "X" as a letter, thus "O-S-eX".

The fact that my notation for that, "OSeX" can also be read
as "Oh-Sex" is just a bonus. :-)
