[ale] erasing a hard drive

Why don't you just take them apart and shatter the platters with a hammer?
 You can make art out of the pieces.  I crushed a bunch of drives that I had
and put the chips in between two panes of glass in a wooden stand.  It
serves as a conversation piece.  If that doesn't work, how about taking a
blow torch to them?   How much heat would it take to melt those drives down?
 I am sure there is a video on Youtube of someone melting hard drives.  Good
