I just recently bought a Droid through Verizon ($50 on amazon w 2yr
contract!), and I was able to tether simply by installing PdaNet through the
Android Market. It's a handy little app that lets you tether via usb or
bluetooth and also has a bandwidth meter. However, after the free trial, it
won't let you access stuff on port 433 and it is one of the more expensive
apps in the market ($30 i think).
