You're just plain lucky.

At my office, for the last 2 years we've been accumulating dead drives
with the eventual goal of physically killing them at some point.  (Is
it time for a ALE thermite party?  What's that cost anyway?)

Currently we have about 50 accumulated.  We have about 400 in service
I'd guess, so that's more than a 1 in 10 failure rate.
