[ale] Android Tablets

As others have pointed out, a toaster is a specialized device. The iPad is a
computer geared toward content consumption and not a lot of sys admin or
developer type tinkering. I understand all of that. But what I'm not
prepared to accept is that Apple should have total control over what I
install on it...even to the point of removing things they have decided
shouldn't be there (and they have that ability). Also, they reserve the
right to censor apps based on content. They did this when they excluded Mark
Fiore's app from the iPhone app store because it "ridicules public figures".
Granted, they reinstated the app when they figured out that Fiore was a
Pulitzer prize winning cartoonist. But they haven't changed their stance on
public figures and the next censored app may be from somebody who didn't win
a Pulitzer Prize. Apple wants to create a world of content consumption
devices where they have total censorship rights over the content. If you're
happy with that Disneyfied world of content, then good for you. If you're
not, then you may not want to give Apple the right to decide where freedom
of speech ends.
