You thought totally wrong.  A close friend of mine from the
Amiga days has been working as a developer at Scientific
Atlanta going back several years before Cisco bought them
- in large part doing UI design set top devices (with Python,
BTW).  Up until Cisco bought them up the S.A. set top / cable
box devices were on some sort of custom embedded unix
type OS that they owned in house.  Now they are all Linux
based, both as the embedded OS on devices and on up
through the entire development chain.
