You might want to talk to Morris, Manning & Martin L.L.P.
They do work related to technology and their folks have given talks at
Atlanta Unix Users Group meetings more than once.  (They're also a
sponsor of the group.)

Sorry for the delay, it took me a bit track down his contact info.

Brandt Howell is a patent attorney and was one of the speakers on the
Electronic Frontiers Forums (EFF) track at Dragon Con this year. I have
never used his services but he is the only patent attorney I have met.
