[ale] OT: a question on cable connections

I'm talking about reaching the end of my rope in attempts to get naked DSL
working. Since the tech support at AT&T is not competent enough to even tell
me what they have done to try and solve the problem, I'm ready to give up
and go cable. But I want to anticipate possible technical problems there
too.
