[ale] OT: a question on cable connections

I would generally go for the shortest, least split run possible. For
mine I have 2 different amplifiers and a bunch of splitters. So, I
have a 2 way (-3.5dbi) splitter on the incoming feed going to the
modem and the first amp. (Then it splits about 4 or 6 times 1 of which
goes to amp #2 after which it splits 4-6 more times.) The point is
proximity to the TV is not what you should be concerned about. Be
concerned about the quality of the signal, which is degraded by
splitters and amps.
