I doubt a refresh rate of zero is going to work. You should be able to
find your vertical refresh rate from `xrandr --verbose` output.

For instance, on my desktop using xxrandr I see that my current settings are

1440x900 (0x1ae)   66.1MHz *current
h: width  1440 start    0 end    0 total 1440 skew    0 clock   45.9KHz
v: height  900 start    0 end    0 total  900           clock   51.0Hz

and I have <rate>51</rate> in my monitors.xml
