I'm guessing you mean the 64-bit filesystem version---e.g., the branch
of e2fsprogs that is working on implementing support for creating ext4
filesystems which are larger than 16 TB.

Unless you're working with very large filesystems, this shouldn't be a
problem.  That said, e2fsprogs works just fine on 64-bit platforms.
