[ale] Plasma fell over this morning

Dang man, it was all spiffy-shiney-new when I installed it.  I reckon
I should upgrade anyways, but I've got some apps ( primarily crrcsim (
http://sourceforge.net/projects/crrcsim/ ) )  installed from source
that'll make that painful.
