Commiecast does at least provide the option of opting out, which
I did immediately. Only semi hassle part was getting down and
pulling my cable modem out of the dust bunnies so I could note
the Mac address for the opt out form. A couple of email
exchanges for confirmation and it was done.

Of course, the choice SHOULD have been an INVITATION to OPT IN,
but respect for the customer and customer service don't seem to
have any profit value for companies who get big enough to become
full party members in the Corporate Welfare State.

The DSL provider at one of my regular clients is Earthdink
I noticed that Earthdink has been doing this same bad-url
redirect crashing for several months. I'll have to check with
the owner to see if we were offered any kind of opt out from
them. I don't think we were, since he usually consults me
if any questions come up regarding our network & IT services.

<toc mode="semi">
The nagging question is wondering if Commiecast now has my mac
address flagged for special monitoring since I didn't follow along
with the mindless consuming sheeple. Do they hand the list of
Opt Outs to the Harmland Gestapo as special cases for unwarranted
[both contexts] wiretapping?
