Geoffrey,

I assume you mean "over the air" (OTA) using a digital to analog (DTA) converter. I have been doing this since January of this year. So far it has been working well although reception is weather dependant (my analog reception was weather dependent too).

I'm using a Tivax STB-T8 and a Channel Master CM4228HD antenna. I'm working on mounting the antenna in my attic. If the reception is not up to par then I will have to bight the bullet and put my "lightning rod" on the roof.

The Tivax supports a Smart Antenna but I was unable to find an antenna locally (in the event I wanted to return it) and I couldn't find enough test data to convince me it eat a $100 if it didn't pan out.

The Tivax also has a serial port and I've managed to figure out how to control it with a computer. In the long run I plan of distributing the antenna signal to multiple converters so that I can watch live TV and record at the same time.
