[ale] video woes

A workaround to the lower res laptop monitor is to change the monitor
designation and use a "generic LCD" that supports up to the resolution of
the external monitor. Now set up dual head using monitor 1 as a lower
resolution, what the laptop can actually use, and monitor 2 is maxed out
for the system. The graphics card may also be a limitation here as many are
sized on laptop to genrate the output resolution for the LCD and no more.
