[ale] ALE is now a Google group!?

Personally I liked Notes.

One feature built into it that doesn't exist on Outlook clients was the
plethora of relevant views. I could for example list all my email in
one view even though it was appropriately filed in separate folders
generally. This became invaluable when searching for a message that I
wasn't sure where I'd filed it.

It, like any tool, requires learning how it works and building the setup
correctly.

But I've worked at large companies that have converted from Exchange to
Notes and vice-versa. Management often thinks whatever they're not
happy with is going to be fixed by moving from one tool to another.
They never admit that either it wasn't fixed OR the other issues
introduced were just as annoying as the ones that were fixed. Also I've
noticed that when they do move from one tool to another they often buy
new hardware for the new tool even when they've resisted moving the
existing tool to newer, more powerful hardware. Often enough the
"fixes" were really that they finally moved to a platform that allowed
them to do the volume of work they needed to do and had nothing to do
with which tool they were using.

I was shocked recently to hear that Notes has close to a 50% market
share among large corps. I don't know the accuracy of that statement,
but it is way more prevalent than I would have thought from my small
bus. background.
