[ale] predefined tasks allowed for custom "cron-like" scheduling for non-system users

Not being a full-time programmer, I'm having trouble trying to come up 
with the best solution for this.


I've got a custom web app with users that don't even have unique 
database security logins, let alone system accounts.  I want these users 
to be able to make "cron-like" schedules for a few predefined tasks, but 
I'm just having a hard time engineering it.

Has anyone tackled this before?
