I use it on both windows and Linux. It seems to work fine. I actually
purchased it to use to call back to the US from elsewhere but guess what
they don't tell you. You can't do that. It's free to call from the US
or Canada for $29.95 per year but you gotta pay per minute if you are
elsewhere and want to call back to the states.
I bought the Skype phone, Emerson? I think. Anyway that's why I still
use Skype on windows. It doesn't seem to work on Linux, at least on the
Ubuntu Edgy that's on my laptop. The newer Linux version of Skype
doesn't run on Edgy very well. I've yet to test to see if the phone
will work on Hardy, but I kinda doubt it.
Yes, you can dial with the mouse, the numeric keys above the normal keys
or the numeric keypad. It's nice to be able to copy/paste phone numbers
from a browser.
As far as I can tell, you can call any phone in the US or Canada with
Skype that Ma Bell lets you call. Skype to skype is free in any case.
You can even for another sum of money, get a SkypeIn account which gives
you a local phone number that someone else can call you on.
Jim.
