In the article from the link it says you can still by XP like that.

What I think is really funny is that the OEMs can still sell you Vista
then downgrade it to XP and ship it with the XP loaded while giving you
the Vista media and license.  Obviously just a way for M$ to pretend
they're selling Vista like hotcakes when in fact they're just selling XP
and giving away the Vista license to people that don't want it.

Sometimes when you have egg on your face you need to just wipe it off
and give an embarrassed little smile.  Instead M$ has chosen to cover
the egg with concealer makeup and hope nobody will notice that the face
seems a little more textured than the norm.

Someone should tell the guys selling the Asus Eee


I've read some where (not sure) where if you are a business and you are 
buying XP now with computers that the var can still sell you XP in the 
future.  This may just be targeted to consumers
