Mybe removing/reinstalling python and mod_python? There is a particular version of clearsilver that I had to build from source. The packaged installer did not work for me. Building clearsilver was an exercise in patience too. Be sure to remove the clearsilver egg and other clearsilver files in the vicinity (dont remember the details- has been a few months) before you build clearsilver from source.

After login I get a nice 500 error and see this in the apache logs
