[ale] Getting MyDocuments folder off of a Win98 laptop and Ubuntu (or other Linux) on it

A friend has donated a laptop to me and wants the 0.25 GB of files in
the MyDocuments folder saved before I wipe it and put Linux on it.
Problem is, no CD ROM drive and the USB port won't recognize any of the
USB keys I have. It has PCMCIA ports and a floppy drive, but that's
about it. My only ideas are to use an old Iomega zip drive I have (but
the Iomega site times out on the driver page and I've lost the install
disk) or try a PCMCIA network card I have if I can find its install disk
or download it.

Am I missing any other possibilities? Once I solve that problem, then I
have to think of a way to get Linux on it, either via floppy or via
network interface. Any ideas there?

TIA, Daniel
