[ale] cryptic error messge

yum horked a file.
yum clean all
yum update
back to doing stuff. If you get unlucky and grab the updates metafile(s)
during a server update, things can get scrambled. The above incantation
resolved 99% of the problems,. The rest are resolved by waiting an hour ad
rerunning the incantation (i.e. wait until the server finishes _it's_
upgrade)
