I just built a MythTV box based around an AMD Athlon 64 X2 and a
motherboard with an nVidia nForce 520 northbridge. Specifically, this
motherboard -- http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813138077
. It seems I can not transfer files across the system bus without a
high risk of them being corrupted. If the file is large (say 700MB)
then it is almost guaranteed the file will be corrupt. If I transfer
the file from across the network to the MTV box, to either of its SATA
drives, the md5 sum on the file doesn't match before and after the
transfer. If I transfer the file from a USB disk to either of the SATA
drives, the same thing happens. If I transfer the file from one USB
disk to another USB disk, thereby transferring solely on the universal
serial bus, the same thing happens.
I've run memtest86+, one pass, on it without any errors. I don't know
what else to try. Anyone have any ideas?

"All governments suffer a recurring problem: Power attracts
pathological personalities. It is not that power corrupts but that it
is magnetic to the corruptible. Such people have a tendency to become
drunk on violence, a condition to which they are quickly addicted."
