Cool!! The recommendations for the Stevens books have been heeded -
found a used (i.e. - low cost) copy of the updated version volume 1
(sockets) for $7.80. Also picking up the volume 2 (interprocess
communication) for $23.

The Beej guide(s) look(s) really useful. That has been bookmarked and
will be used while the deadtree data is being trucked.
