Lately, the term virtualization has been all the rage in the news
and in technology forums. For many, the term virtualization
brings to mind products like VMware and Xen and virtual machines.
But virtualization technology has been around much longer than
VMware or Xen and is much broader than either of these two
specific product examples. Virtualization is also well known in
the security underground, where it is also a popular topic from
both a offensive perspective and a defensive perspective and
represents unique challenges to the security community.
This talk will cover an overview of virtualization technology,
its origins, its breadth, and its deployment in the modern data
center. It will also look at the resulting manifold arms race
between those who wish to utilize this technology and those who
wish to exploit this technology.

around 6:45pm in the meeting room, and we will have one or more
gurus available to discuss whatever topics/problems/questions the
attendees care to bring up.

their sponsorship, and hope that they will continue to support AUUG
in the days to come.
