I don't know if there are any ATI-specific things that you could/should
be doing, but the X.org config file I use (without Xinerama) works
pretty well for me.  I tried it with Xinerama and it works as well
(though there are new bugs in the window manager or desktop component or
something since the last time I used it... time to go bug-crawling
again :))

Anyway, my Xorg configuration is below, it may or may not help.
