Here is the proper manual method for V5R3+
Sign in QSECOFR
Unless you create a CL program you'll need to use the prompts for the
following command:
Eastern Times:
QSYS/CRTTIMZON TIMZON(QN0500EST3) OFFSET(-300) STDNAME(*MSG)
DSTNAME(*MSG) STDMSG(CPX091E) DSTMSG(CPX091F) MSGF(QCPFMSG) DSTSTR(*MAR
*SUN 2 0200) DSTEND(*NOV *SUN 1 0200) TEXT('CREATED BY CUSTOMER') AUT(*USE)
If you receive the error message CPF2112 - TIMZON already exists from
the request above, then issue the following command:
QSYS/CHGTIMZON TIMZON(QN0500EST3) OFFSET(-300) STDNAME(*MSG)
DSTNAME(*MSG) STDMSG(CPX091E) DSTMSG(CPX091F) MSGF(QCPFMSG) DSTSTR(*MAR
*SUN 2 0200) DSTEND(*NOV *SUN 1 0200) TEXT('CHANGED BY CUSTOMER')
Using a prompt:
Type QSYS/CRTTIMZON, then function key F4 (PF4)
Enter the information contained in the above listed commands.
After complete enter the following:
QSYS/CHGOBJOWN OBJ(QSYS/QN0500EST3) OBJTYPE(*TIMZON) NEWOWN(QSYS)
CUROWNAUT(*REVOKE)
->Enter
QSYS/CHGSYSVAL SYSVAL(QTIMZON) VALUE(QN0500EST3)
->Enter
Verify that the system is using the timezone object QN0500EST3
QSYS/WRKTIMZON and page down. You should see a ">" pointing to the named
object
