[ale] md5sum weirdness on firefox

I downloaded the same file using 'wget' from the URL in your post.
$ md5sum firefox-1.5.0.9-3.fc6.i386.rpm
1284459a13f9898487f06ee925876b2c  firefox-1.5.0.9-3.fc6.i386.rpm

So, your md5sum is messed up somehow. To check,

   - which md5sum
   - which md5sum | xargs rpm -qf
   - which md5sum | xargs rpm -qf | xargs rpm --verify

   On my FC6, I have coreutils-5.97-12.3.fc6
   which md5sum | xargs md5sum
   d4cbe115e872499ddd8dfebfe5bf37cb  /usr/bin/md5sum
