I'd love to learn more about doing kernel makes & installs, but the
documentation was geared toward installing a source RPM, which there doesn't
seem to be one:
from the README.SUSE:
COMPILING YOUR OWN KERNEL
The kernel sources are found in the kernel-source.$ARCH.rpm package. The
recommended way to produce a binary kernel is:
(1) Install kernel-source.$ARCH.rpm. Change to the /usr/src/linux
directory.
