Paul,
I going thru my 10.2 setup now. Its not the same as I remember.
> under Control Center-Network Services is the DNS and Hostname tab.
Don't use that one (yet) it is for DNS client setup, use DNS server on
the same tab.
Don't add a forwarder (unless you have a specific reason.)
Don't add any zones. (Your only going to cache, not be an original info source).
Click the startup radio button for now and on bootup and click finish
You are now a caching only DNS server, but nobody knows it.
Now you need to setup network clients to ask your server for DNS info.
Now go into YAST - Control Center-Network Services - DNS and Hostname tab.
And tell it to ask 127.0.0.1 for DNS info. (Name Server 1, 2&3 are
backups only. Leave your ISP in NS2 or NS3 if you want. I don't, if
my local caching dns breaks I want to know.)
Your done for the SUSE machine.
If you want to serve DNS to the reset of your local LAN, you need to
make sure it has a static IP and put that IP in as the DNS server on
those clients.
