That's way old.  Jeff needs to update it in a major way for all the drivers.

FYI: PMP support for sata may get into the 2.6.23 merge window.  That
will allow an external sata cage to work.  ie. One sata cable drives
multiple drives.

That will be another big step for the sata driver.  Not sure what else
it would be missing after that.  I know they want to move libata out
of the scsi intertwining, but I'm not sure what  value that will have
for users.
