I'm looking into setting up skype.  I bought a plantronics headset.  I'm 
having trouble getting the microphone to work well.  This is being used with 
a Dell laptop, where there's already a built-in microphone.

I use "arecord" and "aplay" just to test the microphone.  It works, but the 
audio quality is /horrible/.  Sound like a 20 year old record (or worse).  Is 
this just a cheap microphone, or is there some configuration problem that I 
need to purse.
