Join #debian on irc.freenode.net. type `/msg dpkg ubuntu` and get:

"<dpkg> yes, ubuntu is based on debian. Still, it has its own packages
which are different and they have their own bugs and different ways of
working that are unique to ubuntu. If we give you advice here, we
could break your system more than it already is. So please, ask
#ubuntu . Thanks :)"

Ubuntu != Debian.

This isn't meant to be a flame, but a kindly PSA sort of message.
Please don't confuse Ubuntu with Debian.
