the system-config-authentication tool under RedHat makes the winbind
setup quite easy. You can set your linux boxes up to authenticate
directly to an AD domain controller. This will let you use your
existing NT UID's and groups. It doesn't push out home directory info
as well as NIS does ( that requires editing some PAM files.)
I wouldn't go as far as setting up a kerberos/ ldap solution for a
network your size unless you really want to learn.
