O.K. first of all I'm sorry I started the thread and then didn't
continue to follow it but had to shut down and go to a funeral, so just
got back this morning. Fired up the laptop this morning and it booted
flawlessly loading and starting the ipw2200. Go figure.
James McKinney your reply triggered my memory that there is a Realtek
device listed in the eth devices. Checked that and the NIC is a
Realtek, but no number associated with it which was my stumbling block
as I didn't associate 8139 with the eth0 device which is the NIC.
So for some reason when I started up yesterday, it was trying to load
and start the Realtek and not the Intel as the eth1 device. I've had
problems with the ipw2200 starting anyway. It occasionaly tells me that
it's not present. At that point, I have to shut down, not restart, and
start again to get it to load.
Thanks again to all for your thoughts and suggestions.
Jim
