I'd recommend you look at upgrading to eSATA, for one simple (but very
important) reason: neither USB nor firewire support SMART monitoring. Given
the dwindling warranty period on hard drives and the importance of having a
_reliable_ backup, monitoring a back drive for errors is important. I learned
that lesson the hard way. :-(
