Since Thunderbird is already not an option... :-)

Evolution always did fine WRT pulling my mail from POP accounts as it
should've.  It would pull the messages to it's storage in my ${HOME},
and then purge them from the server.  However, the other issues that I
started to have with it really started bugging me---particularly the bug
in Feisty where Evolution no longer prints long messages correctly.  I
need to be able to do that from time to time, and that was the
proverbial straw that broke the camel's back for me.

I just switched back to Thunderbird after having used Evolution for over
a year, and am happy that Thunderbird has improved as much as it has.
There is only _one_ stinking issue that I can't figure out how to get
around:  How to make it quote only the part of the message that I
highlight with the mouse before hitting reply or pressing C-r.  Other
than that, everything's golden---even read/write integration with my
Google Calendar on my domain.
